What is Sophomore Symposium?
Sophomore Symposium is the kick-off activity for Year 2 of LEAD, focusing on lifelong career management. The Symposium features a speaker who addresses the ideas of lifelong career management and is often paired with an accompanying book, which all Sophomores receive over the summer to read in preparation for the event.
Sophomore Symposium 2011: Going the Extra Mile
In July of 2011, all second-year LEAD students were mailed a book as summer reading. This book was picked out by the faculty of each division. We are pleased to announce that on October 2, 2011, Eddie Slowikowski will join us as this year's Sophomore Symposium keynote speaker. Eddie is a professional speaker and entrepreneur. He speaks to students about the importance of discovering what you love to do, creating a career based on this passion, and being willing to do what it takes to make all this happen. Eddie will share his story with us and inspire our students to think more critically about their lifelong career goals.
Eddie's keynote will be followed by breakout workshops designed to get students to start applying some of the ideas from both Eddie's talk and their summer reading books immediately in their professional or academic career. A list of 2011 breakout workshops is coming soon.
