Today’s media
professional must possess performance
skill, creativity, marketing savvy
and equipment agility. Public Relations
is exciting and rewarding, and its
competitive core ensures a successful
career for the trained and motivated
individual. An internship gives you
the opportunity to make a solid connection
between classroom theory and the world
of work.
According to the
Bureau of Labor Statistics: “[Career]
opportunities should be best for college
graduates who combine a degree in
public relations or other communications-related
fields with a public relations internship
or other related work experience.”

“I
love Champlain…a small school
with fabulous teachers and I couldn’t
believe the personal attention each
student receives…it’s
almost story book. During my internship
with the minor league baseball team,
the Vermont Expos, I worked on community
relations, media sponsorships, player
profiles, radio ads and press conferences.
It was the greatest! I’ve
never worked more in my entire life,
but I’ve never gotten more
out of an experience. With both
in-class and field work experience
now under my belt, I feel well prepared
and that I may even have a better
chance than other PR grads because
of all the one-on-one, nurturing
support I’ve received here
at Champlain.”

“Champlain
was one of few schools I found that
offered a degree specifically in
Public Relations…the other
colleges I looked at only included
PR as part of a general communications
degree. I found my internship through
Champlain to be the key component
of my college experience. Having
the opportunity to spend time in
an office environment during college
is a valuable way to learn first-hand
what to expect and what is expected
of you in the business world. I
also made connections through my
internship that helped me land the
job I have today.”
