Computer Information Systems

This multifaceted program, leading to your bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems (CIS), offers outstanding preparation for a career as a generalist in the sophisticated computer technology that drives today’s businesses. This is the perfect option for someone who wants to be an IT manager.

As a CIS major, you’ll choose your primary concentration -- that is, take your first two years of classes in one of these majors:

In Years 3 and 4, you will add two other areas of specialization chosen on the basis of your career goals. Mix and match to suit your interests. This is your chance to customize your course work to fit in with your professional plans. The courses you’ll take depend on the secondary concentrations you choose and are listed below.

Program Particulars

  • You’ll plunge right into your primary concentration your very first semester, developing strong skills in this discipline through your first two years. In Years 3 and 4, you’ll broaden your perspective by choosing two secondary concentrations, culminating in your bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems.
  • Elective courses cover some of the industry’s hottest topics in depth, including TCP/IP, network security, Java programming and Web development.
  • You’ll graduate with more than 50 credits in computer technology courses, paving the way for rapid advancement within the industry.
  • Core courses in the third and fourth years of the CIS bachelor’s degree include more than 25 credits in humanities, social and natural sciences, and fine arts.
