Courtney Joining
the Criminal Justice program at
Champlain College has been one
of the best decisions I have ever
made. The knowledge and contacts
that I am building through the
college and this program are an
asset to moving forward and acquiring
a career choice and reaching my
goals. Peter Danles, the director
of the C.J. program was one of
the main reasons I transferred
to this school and this program.
His support and knowledge about
the "real world" and
what my options are and how to
reach my career goals have been
indispensable to me.
Jen My time here at Champlain
College has been a life changing
experience. I have made many friends
that will last a lifetime and
have had some of the best learning
experiences. Professors at Champlain
care about you as an individual
and not just merely as a student
sitting in their class. I have
grown and changed as an individual.
When I first started here at Champlain
I was a quiet person and never
raised my hand in class. Now as
I prepare to graduate in May,
I raise my hand and play a more
active role in my classes. Champlain
College has really helped me to
develop both intellectually and
physically.
Doug When I entered the Criminal
Justice program at Champlain College
I was greeted with caring, open
arms. I had been under the impression
that students were not treated
well in college, but soon found
out the exact opposite. My Criminal
Justice classes were some of the
most interesting and engaging
classes I had ever taken. My teachers
encouraged students to participate
in class, which allowed me to
not only learn from the teachers
but also from fellow students.
The C.J. program has been one
of the most fun experiences that
I have been offered in my life.
I enjoy going to class because
I know that every class is going
to be filled with real life situations
and facts on criminal activity.
Tracie My experience at Champlain
College has been a positive and
excellent one. The class sizes
are small enough that the teachers
know everyone by name and make
every effort to help you. At Champlain,
I have really enjoyed the majority
of my classes. In particular,
I loved all of my core Criminal
Justice classes. The teachers
do an exceptional job teaching
a balance of academia and the
real world. Anyone can learn from
the book, but what is vital are
having teachers who have been
in various fields of law enforcement
teaching the material.
Philip I am a sophomore at Champlain
College. I have lived on campus
my first two years. This year
I am really looking forward to
living off campus in an apartment
somewhere close to Champlain.
I really like the location of
our College. It sits just below
the University of Vermont and
has a sweet view of the lake.
Downtown Burlington is only two
blocks from my dorm. All my classes
have been small enough to acquire
a personal relationship with my
teachers -- most of them prefer
to be called by first name. It's
great to have this kind of a relationship
with my teachers. I ask a lot
of questions and I have found
that all of my teachers are willing
to set up meetings with me after
class to further discuss the material.
The relationships I have with
my teachers helped me to obtain
an internship in my first year.
After my first year in college
I was already working for the
Burlington Police Department as
a Parks Patrol Officer. I still
work for the police department
while going to school full time.
Champlain was definitely the right
college choice for me.
