Graphic Design

"Education isn't just about the pursuit of knowledge, it's an emotional experience."

Take a look around and everywhere you can see graphic design. Behind every poster, logo, web site or snowboard lies the creative spark of a professional graphic designer. Beginning with a great idea, today’s graphic designer brings her or his ideas to life by creating digital artwork ready reproduction in a diverse range of media. Whether a campaign concerning global warming, or the competitive advantages of a new product, graphic designers play a key role in realizing the visual expression of such ideas. Champlain’s Graphic Design & Digital Media (GDD) program has its finger on the pulse of this dynamic field, enabling you to synthesize imagination, creativity, intellect and technological savvy into a dynamic and rewarding career.

Graphic design is a stimulating life activity—synthesizing imagination, creativity, intellect and teamwork into a rewarding profession. It is ever-changing. As little as ten years ago, a practicing graphic designer likely would have specialized in a niche of the profession. Thanks to the digital revolution, however, today’s graphic design professional may wear many hats, designing and creating artwork across a wide spectrum of media. Champlain’s GDD program enables you to experience all modes of digital design beginning in the very first semester of your studies, and then to develop expertise through a flexible arrangement of upper-level elective courses in the latter part of your degree.

Harmonizing with your GDD courses is Champlain’s distinctive interdisciplinary core curriculum, which will broaden and deepen your general knowledge and experience. Studying within the interdisciplinary core concurrently with the GDD program, you will graduate with an ability to dive into in your profession, keep pace with its evolving technologies, and actively engage in your culture for decades to come.
