Facilities & Technology
The campus is fully networked and offers several wireless hotspots, so that students can logon to the Internet and College library Web site any time. Students also have access to major-specific labs including three multimedia development suites where they can create advanced technological projects using state-of-the-art equipment. Computers in all of our computer labs, both Macs and PCs, are installed with the latest design and web development software.
S.D. Ireland Family Center for Global Business and Technology
This $10 million facility was built in 2004 to enable the College to put students to work on business and technology-related challenges for Vermont companies and non-profits. Resources include:
- fully wired and wireless classrooms featuring interactive whiteboards and a variety of multimedia software and equipment
- state-of-the-art multimedia design classroom with 12 open development stations to facilitate teamwork and interactive learning
- digital video and audio labs where students can create new online businesses, design Web sites, experiment with innovative graphics technology, and execute corporate research projects
- Mac G5 computer classrooms with workstations that connect to wall-mounted, 40-inch flat screen monitors for students to display their work
- multimedia suites where Champlain students create innovative print, interactive, 3D and video graphic solutions using top-of-the-line visual and audio equipment
Miller Information Commons
The Robert E. and Holly D. Miller Information Commons holds all the resources of a traditional library as well as:
- online computers and multimedia labs
- video-conferencing centers and vast electronic resources
- online work stations that provide access to subscription service research sources such as Lexis-Nexis and JSTOR
- wireless computer networking
The Hauke Family Campus Center
Hauke houses
classrooms, a photo lab and darkroom,
and drafting classrooms. A fiber-optic
computer network that links faculty,
staff and students throughout campus
includes more than 260 PCs for student
use.
