Dr. Victor Stone
E-Mail: stone@champlain.edu
Victor Stone is a middle manager in IBM’s
Business Information and Transformation organization. He
earned a B.A. in Biology from the University of Idaho, an
MBA from the University of Utah, and a PhD from Capella
University. His research interests include organizational
transformation, e-business operations, and business process
improvement initiatives.
During Vic’s twenty three year career
with IBM he has had first and second line management assignments
in a variety of functional areas. This includes duties in
Production Control and Inventory Management, Product Pricing
and Competitive Analysis, Product Marketing, Business Controls
and Operations. All of these jobs have been within the context
of semiconductor development and manufacturing.
In his current role, he is managing departments
of software development and process reengineering personnel
who specialize in e-business operations, Product Data Management,
and Business Analytics Systems. The fun part of this job,
aside from bringing new tools and techniques to help solve
business problems, is that there are a wide variety of resources
that have to be organized to make all of the projects work.
There are IBM employees in several locations, numerous vendors,
purchasing contracts, and myriad other activities that need
to be synchronized to effectively deploy projects.
Before joining IBM, Victor served as an
officer in the U.S. Navy. He flew anti-submarine and maritime
patrol missions from various Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean
Sea military installations.
He lives outside Underhill Flats where
he and his family enjoy Vermont’s rural, outdoor character.
