Early Childhood Education

  • Dean: Laurel Bongiorno, Ph.D.

  • Structure: Flexible scheduling to accommodate students carrying full- or part-time credit load
  • Format: Combines convenience of online instructor-led scheduling (24/7 access to instruction and assignment; highly collaborative through discussion, chat and email) with face-to-face learning in one short Residency Experience.
  • Annual Cycle: Five terms per year; courses start in August, October, January, March, and May
  • Course Duration: 8-week online terms
  • Required Credit Hours: 36 credit hours
  • Areas of Specialization: Teaching or Administration
  • Degree Completion Time Frames:
    • Minimum: under 1.5 years (two courses in seven successive 8-week terms for 36 credit hours)
    • Maximum: 6 years
  • Residency Location: One required in conjunction with a national education conference during the first year of the program.
  • Graduate Commencement Ceremony: Annually in May, Champlain College, Burlington, VT
  • Application Process: Applications accepted year-round; begin in any of the three start terms; August, January, and May. Call a Graduate Admission Representative for term application deadlines.
