Supporting Documents for Application
Statement of Purpose
Your statement of purpose should be 500-1,000 words, addressing three interconnected questions:
- Given our program focus on creativity, collaboration, innovation and technological savvy, how would you describe your key strengths?
- What areas are your weaknesses and in which areas would you like to grow and expand?
- How is the MFA program in Emergent Media designed to help you get where you want to go?
Project Postmortem
Your Project Postmortem should analyze and assess your role in a project that involved degrees of creativity, collaboration and innovation. The project you choose to analyze could be almost any type, from a performance to an event, an expressive work of art, a software application, a commercial product, an educational program-anything that was designed to create impact.
Assembled into a single PDF or PowerPoint file (maximum 3,000 words), your Project Postmortem should pay particular attention to:
- Contextual information about the project itself
- A description of your role in that project
- Relevant materials/examples from that project (such as narrative description, programming code, images, screen shots, URLs, etc.) and a clear indication of what each example represents in the context of that project
- An assessment of what new opportunities were created by the project and what improvements could have been made
- Email your Project Postmortem materials to MFA@Champlain.edu (10MB limit)
Transcripts
Official academic transcripts (not photocopies or those issued directly to a student) are required from all colleges and universities you have attended. Please contact each college's registrar's office and sign a release to have your transcripts sent to Office of Graduate Admission at Champlain College. If you have taken any graduate-level courses, be sure to have those transcripts sent to us as well. If you have attended Champlain College, the Office of Graduate Admission will obtain your transcript internally; you do not need to request it.
Resume
Please submit an updated resume that communicates your work history. You should pay particular attention to the most recent five-year period. Your resume should be at a level of detail sufficient for the Admission Committee to assess your ability to move between projects and assignments within a single organization.
Letters of Recommendation
You are required to submit three letters of recommendation from a manager or supervisor in your professional field. In the absence of such a manager or supervisor, the recommendation should be from someone who can assess your capabilities as an employee or as a student. Recommendations will not be accepted from relatives or family members.
Application Fee
An application fee of $50 US must be submitted with your application. You may make a credit card payment online when you submit your application.
