Champlain College has appointed Dr. Linda Rodd as the new director of the Applied Psychology program. Rodd joined the Champlain faculty last year. She holds a Ph.D. in social psychology and teaches a variety of courses including Introduction to Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Social Psychology and Introduction to Applied Psychology.

Rodd now oversees the delivery of a program that combines the scientific study of psychology with an understanding of behavior in the workplace. The major prepares graduates to use their education and internship experiences in a wide variety of non-clinical settings. Only a handful of colleges in the U.S. offer an interdisciplinary Applied Psychology undergraduate degree, and Champlain College offers the first such program in Vermont.

Rodd's scholarly interests include applying social psychology to questions of human good and evil, as well as the psychology of gender. She earned her doctorate from the Union Institute and she has taught at Trinity College and the University of Vermont. She also recently worked for Educational Assessment Services and evaluated school children for special education eligibility.
