BURLINGTON, VT. -- Champlain for Reel, a video competition sponsored by the Champlain College Marketing Department and Admissions, announced the winners of its first video contest on April 20 at a celebration in the Fireside Lounge on campus.
A dozen entries were reviewed by professionals and college marketing experts and then posted on YouTube for online voting.
"Champlain College: What it is..." won the top prize of $1,000 for Champlain College students Daniel M. Chahine and Miles Dean Ewell. The two-minute energetic rap, written by Ewell, extols the virtues of attending college at Champlain while showing various locations around campus.
Earning second place, the "One Thing" video by Alex Brandstetter and a team of friends, earned them $500 for their bare-bones production that had students talking about why their education at Champlain sets them apart from others.
In third place, "Amy's Remix," self proclaimed "Roaming Online Diva," shares her humorous take on Champlain College, starring Kristen Mercure, Mass Communications. "Amy" is vlogging about all the things she can't believe about Champlain College.
"This was our first attempt at doing something like this," said Stephen Mease, news and public information director at Champlain. "The enthusiasm and professionalism exhibited in these top videos and all the entries, is a tribute to our talented students and what they are learning at Champlain."
