Fall Events at Champlain College include Art, Theater and Experts

Here's a look at some upcoming events at Champlain College this fall:

  • Sept. 9-10: South End Art Hop. Annual celebration of local artists featuring student, faculty and staff art. Champlain College is an academic partner with SEABA. Visit the Miller Center at Lakeside Campus to see artwork and more. Details at www.seaba.org.
  • Sept. 27, BYOBiz Speaking From Experience, 7 p.m. in Perry Hall, Champlain College. Technology Guru Steven Shepard, a professional author, photographer, and an international consultant on the social, cultural and economic impact of new technology.
  • Sept. 30, Oct. 1 and 6-8, "Rough Magic: A Shakespeare Quartet." 8 p.m., Perry Hall Presentation Room, Champlain College. Compiled from the Works of William Shakespeare by Paul Mackley, J. Andrew McGrath, and Anthony Fusco. Directed by Kerry Noonan and performed by four Champlain College students, a compilation woven of various Shakespeare pieces, all with the theme of magic or disguise. $15 general, $5 Champlain faculty and staff.   • Oct. 12, BYOBiz Speaking From Experience, 7 p.m. in Perry Hall, Champlain College. Women's marketing pioneer Jill Heck is a true entrepreneurial pioneer, creating profitable ventures in the women's sports movement as founder of the Women's Pro Ski Racing Tour, and later as founder of Women's Marketing, Inc.
  • Nov. 2-5, "Playing Hard to Get: Short Works 2011." 8 p.m., Flynn Space, 147 Main St., Burlington. Six short, contemporary plays about identity, attraction, romance, misunderstanding, and balancing on the precipice of possibility. Directed by Alex Hudson and Kim Jordan and featuring Champlain College students. $15 general, $5 Champlain faculty and staff. Students free with Champlain College ID.   • Nov. 10, BYOBiz Speaking From Experience, 7 p.m. in Perry Hall, Restaurant Entrepreneur Benjy Adler, has just graduated in 2003, when he started a food cart on Church Street serving exotic crepes. A few years later, his empire includes three successful restaurants, including Skinny Pancake on Burlington's waterfront, a catering business, and that original food cart.
