RE: Plans for the 2009 Fall Semester

DATE: February 27, 2009

SECURE FORM: https://secure.champlain.edu/returningdeposit

We are writing regarding your academic and housing plans for the 2009-2010 academic year. Our records indicate that you may be returning to Champlain next year. In order to streamline this process the form is now electronic. Whether you plan to return or not, please complete the form located at https://secure.champlain.edu/returningdeposit and submit it with your electronic payment. This will assist us in space and course planning for Fall 2009.

All full-time students (residential and non-residential) must complete the following before they are permitted to register for 2009 Fall classes or, if applicable, participate in the housing selection process:

  • Submit online form and electronic payment: $500.00 tuition deposit
  • If you plan to live on campus, submit $500.00 tuition and $500.00 housing deposits. Information regarding housing options may be found at my.champlain.edu/departments-services/residential-life/
  • Be sure your immunization records are up-to-date with Health Services (802-860-2711)

The tuition deposit of $500.00 and housing deposit, if applicable, of $500.00 should be submitted through the online process on or before Friday, March 13, 2009. While online submission is the preferred method, if you choose to submit by mail, please be aware you must first link to https://secure.champlain.edu/returningdeposit, complete and print the deposit form and then mail it along with your deposit. Both the completed form and the deposits should be mailed directly to the Student Accounts Office in order for the College to accurately identify your payment as well as your plans for 2009-2010. Additionally, please be aware that electronic checks and credit card payments may only be made through the online process.

Students missing the March 13 deadline will not be permitted to participate in the housing selection process for Fall 2009. Late depositing students will be placed on a housing waiting list and assigned rooms on a space available basis throughout the summer. Information on the housing selection process will be sent to all students via email, or students may visit http://www.champlain.edu/Residential-Life.html after March 1.

The tuition deposit will be applied to Fall 2009 tuition charges and the housing deposit will be applied to Spring 2010 residence hall charges. We are experiencing high demand for spaces at Champlain College, and we hope students and families are making a serious commitment by reserving a space. These deposits are refundable upon written notification of cancellation by Friday, May 1, 2009. Deposits are specifically attributable to tuition and residence halls charges. Students who make a change in housing requests or enrollment plans after May 1, 2009 will forfeit the deposits which are non-refundable after May 1, 2009.

For your convenience, your deposit payment can be processed through QuikPAY, our secure online bill payment processing site. The site is available 24 hours per day and offers immediate confirmation of your payment. QuikPAY accepts electronic payments from your checking or savings account or from your MasterCard, American Express, or Discover credit card. There will be a convenience fee of 2.75% charged when using credit card payments but there is no fee for electronic payments from savings or checking accounts. Payments by credit card will only be accepted through the QuikPay online process. Cash and paper check payments can be accepted with the printed deposit form at the Office of Student Accounts at the address listed on the deposit form.

Questions regarding deposits should be directed to Student Accounts at 1-800-570-5858 Ext. 2741. Questions regarding Residential Life should go to 1-802-860-2703.
