The Zonta Club of Burlington presented a check for $5,500 to Champlain College's Single Parent Scholarship Program earlier this month. The presentation was made by Zonta Club officers Kimberly Pinkham, Barabra Gay and Tina Kurrelmeyer to Carol Moran-Brown, a representative of Champlain College's Single Parents Scholarship Program. This money was raised from the Zonta Club's 14th Annual Spelling Bee held at Champlain College in May.

The Single Parent Program and Scholarship Fund helps low-income single parents get a post-secondary education, Established in 1987, it is one of Champlain's longest-standing assistance programs. In addition to tuition scholarships, the program also provides on-site advocacy and counseling to students trying to balance child-rearing, a full academic curriculum and additional financial challenges.

Following the check presentation, Nadine Salley, District 1 Governor of Zonta International, installed Jennifer Smith as a new member. Salley also installed the following officers for the new biennium: Nancy Shambaugh, president; Tina Kurrelmeyer, vice-president; Jennifer Smith, secretary; Kimberly Pinkham, treasurer; and Barbara Gay and Gail Lang as directors.

The Zonta Club of Burlington is a member of Zonta International, headquartered in Chicago, IL.
