Some International
Business (IB) students strengthened their résumés this summer
while getting their feet wet in the field. Nicole Jakobeit '02
of South Burlington, Vt., worked in the International Department of the
famous ice cream maker Ben & Jerry's Homemade Inc. As an International
Project Coordinator, she assisted with the annual One World One Heart
festival, international research projects, and development of Ben &
Jerry's 2003 marketing plan.
"Ben & Jerry's gave me a great experience
as an intern. I had many different projects that were always challenging
and fun," Jakobeit said. "I got to meet great people including
marketing managers from various countries."
Her classmate Asta Petkeviciute '03 of
Kaunas, Lithuania, spent the summer with the Hugh Wilkinson Consulting
Company, which specializes in international development projects. She
traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in the Inter-American Development
Bank (IDB) Procurement Workshop "How to do business with the IDB."
During the same week, she visited the World Bank.
She also spent time in New York City, where she
participated in the International Aid & Trade Conference and rubbed
elbows with many different business and government professionals.
"When I look back on those three months
I can say that I did a lot of research for different projects and I got
hands-on experience with making presentations to other businesses,"
Petkeviciute said. "I even participated in an e-forum on corporate
social responsibility where my manager was the moderator." |
