Sampling of Campus Events

March 14: Writers’ exchange Champlain student writers take on a contingent from UVM as they read their best poetry and short stories. Morgan Room, 7 p.m.

March 20: Coolidge lecture Biographer Willard Sterne Randall, visiting professor of the humanities, pays tribute to the nation’s first college educated First Lady --Grace Goodhue Coolidge. Alumni Auditorium, 7:30 p.m.

March 22-24: Road trip This spring’s Road Rules trip brings students to our nation’s capital. Loosely based on MTV’s Road Rules show, unfamiliar traveling companions are challenged with comical tasks that are caught on video across Washington, D.C. Register: ext. 6436.

April 4-6 and 12-13: Play The Champlain College Players present The Three Sisters by Anton Checkhov. Alumni Auditorium, 7:30 p.m. Tickets: 860-2707.

April 13: Caving
Be a bat for a day--students explore the subterranean deep with an expert spelunker. Learn safe caving techniques, study stone formations, and experience complete darkness. Register: ext. 2794.

April 15: Body sculpting Students work through weight resistance exercises to tone the whole body, followed by a relaxing stretch. Mondays and Wednesdays, Morgan Room, 7 p.m.

Ongoing: Campus Tours Learn about Champlain from a student tour guide during a campus tour, offered Monday - Friday at 9:30 a.m., 10:45 a.m., 1:30 p.m., or 3 p.m. year round.

The Champlain Shoreline
Burlington, Vt., is nestled along the shores of Lake Champlain, a 120-mile-long body of water that provides year-round beauty and seasonal activities like sailing, swimming and kayaking. Students enjoy rollerblading, biking and walking a seven-mile recreation path that meanders along Burlington’s waterfront and passes behind the Burlington Boathouse, shown here.

Champlain Activities: Champlain teams up with Petra Cliffs, a local climbing and mountaineering school, to offer expert led adventure trips. Students get quality instruction in ice climbing, winter mountaineering, snowshoeing, rockclimbing, kayaking and caving, for example.
