The Office of International Education
Welcome to the Office of International Education (OIE) at Champlain College. The Office of International Education supports the College’s goal to ensure that our students graduate prepared to be globally engaged citizens with international experience and global perspective. We know that students with international experience are getting higher paying jobs and have greater opportunities for career advancement. Our philosophy is to integrate international education into all aspects of the student experience through the curriculum, study abroad opportunities, foreign language, campus and community programming, internships and service learning.
International and comparative perspective is woven into the Core curriculum and includes opportunities for study abroad for a semester or as part of a course taught on the Burlington campus. Most majors also encourage students to study abroad as part of their program and many students have opportunities for international internships and service learning. Champlain College has study abroad campuses in Montreal and Dublin and provides opportunities for students to study abroad at additional sites through approved third party providers. Studying abroad is an expectation and within the next few years 50% or more of our students will have studied abroad by the time they graduate.
At Champlain College global awareness and global perspective involves living and learning in a diverse and tolerant environment that encourages open discussion and exposes students to different world views. In this spirit Champlain College attracts, welcomes and supports students from many countries and diverse cultures.
