Who We Are

The Office of International Education includes our Burlington-based International and Study Abroad staff as well as the staff and faculty of our Montreal and Dublin campuses. We bring together diverse backgrounds and international experience that enables us to create unique and meaningful opportunities for students to expand their global perspective.

Burlington Staff

Jim CrossDr. Jim Cross, Associate Provost and Senior International Officer

A graduate of the University of Vermont, Dr. Cross has over 25 years of experience in international diplomacy, negotiations, corporate relations, research and education in both academic and applied settings working for the United Nations' International Fund for Agricultural Development (Rome), the NATO Parliament (Brussels), Business International -The Economist, Loyola University Chicago, Heidelberg College, Michigan Technological University, Clemson University and Champlain College. In 1994 Dr. Cross founded and directed the first post-communist Training Institute in Business and Government in Albania and served as a consultant to the US Department of State Foreign Service Institute.

He earned the Doctoral Degree in Political Science from the Graduate Institute for International Studies at the University of Geneva, Switzerland. He received the Carrington Medal by NATO Secretary General Lord Carrington and is Truman Scholar from the State of Vermont. He is also a professor of international relations at Wuhan University of Technology in China.

He currently is the founding president of Education Vermont USA.  He is a member of the board of the Vermont Council on World Affairs and the boards of Champlain College Dublin and Champlain College Montreal. He has served as the NAFSA Senior International Officer Network Manager and served on the Executive Board of the IIE Global Engineering Education Exchange. Cross has become increasingly involved in efforts to link international education to economic development. Cross' areas of academic grant writing and scholarship include international development, international economic policy, international education, international politics and international security.

Dr. Cross is fluent in Italian and French.


Noah Goldblatt of Champlain CollegeNoah Goldblatt, Assistant Director, Study Abroad

Noah started his path to international education by studying Spanish in Mexico and Central America. After completing an undergraduate degree, Noah continued his passion for international affairs teaching Spanish language and culture at a New England private school, and leading high school students on international community service trips to Honduras and Nicaragua.  During his tenure as a secondary education teacher, he completed a summer study abroad program in Barcelona, Spain, and an intensive Spanish language program at Dartmouth College.

Noah received a B.A. in Political Science from Plymouth State University with minors in Anthropology and Sociology. He also holds a Master's degree in Globalization Studies from Dartmouth College. Prior to joining Champlain College, Noah held an Assistant Director position at a third party study abroad provider, and managed multiple study abroad programs in Europe, Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East. As the world continues to become increasingly interconnected on multiple levels, Noah cherishes the opportunity to work with Champlain College students while facilitating career-focused international education and growth experiences. In his free time, Noah enjoys skiing, biking, sailing, yoga, and traveling.


Kathy LynnKathy Lynn, Assistant Director, International Student Services

Working with international students has been a part of Kathy's professional experience for the past twelve years. As a member of the International Program's team, she helped provide educational programs at Champlain College branch campuses in Israel, UAE/Dubai and India. Over the years, her travels have taken her to these foreign campuses and other places around the world including Great Britian, Ireland, Spain, Estonia, Finland, Netherlands, France, Belgium, Canada,  Mexico, and The Bahamas, opening her eyes to a great variety of cultures and customs.

Kathy received her B.S. degree from Champlain College and has worked in education for over 30 years. As a Champlain College employee for the past 22 years, she has coordinated programs and worked with students in Career Services, Student Services, Residential Life, International Programs and now our new Office of International Education.

In addition to managing the Mumbai India campus, Kathy prepares Mumbai exchange students for their study abroad experience to the U.S. as well as U.S. Burlington campus students going to India. Currently, as the Designated School Official (DSO) and Responsible Officer (RO) her main focus is advising international & exchange students on immigration issues and their adjustment to U.S. academics and culture.

The study abroad experience impacted Kimberly's personal and professional goals as an undergraduate student.  After living in Athens, Greece, she was inspired to return to Susquehanna University,  in Pennsylvania,  to complete her undergraduate studies early and begin her career in higher education. Though new to the International Education field, Kimberly came to Champlain College with recruitment and admissions expertise from Dartmouth College. During Kimberly's tenure at The Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice, she restructured the recruitment and admissions processes for the Master of Public Health Programs and worked on student services programming. While at Dartmouth, Kimberly began taking classes toward a Masters in Business Administration and anticipates completing that by May 2013.

Kimberly holds a B.A. from Susquehanna University in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations. She also graduated with a minor in Music Performance, specifically vocals and piano. As the Director of Champlain Abroad Recruitment at Champlain College, she will work with the OIE team to recruit Non-Champlain students to experience the wonderful study abroad programs offered in both Dublin and Montreal. In her free time, Kimberly enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, traveling, and cooking.
