Hometown: Essex, Vermont
Internship: Big Heavy World, a local music label
Goal: Designing album art
Plugged in to print design
Before he transferred to Champlain College, Brendan Ford was working on building his photojournalism portfolio in New York by shooting a lot of concerts and shows. When he saw little potential for growth, he returned to Vermont and immediately settled in to Champlain’s Graphic Design and Digital Media program, where he specialized in print design under the guidance of program director David Lustgarten.
“David is fantastic, easily one of the best graphic designers I have ever had the pleasure of meeting,” says Brendan. “There’s not a question you can ask him that he can’t answer. As far as instruction goes, he’s really good at having everyone go in their own direction, and helps it all make sense.”
Brendan keeps busy designing a variety of flyers and posters for bands, and spent time interning at Big Heavy World, a Burlington-based music label. After graduation he plans to stay in the music scene. “Ideally if I got the opportunity to design album art, that would be the ultimate goal.”
