Unique
Curriculum Format
Champlain offers
a unique curriculum format, one we
call "Plus Two" or the "Upside
Down Curriculum." Students in
their first two years at Champlain
concentrate on courses in their major
area of interest, rather than fulfilling
distribution requirements in academic
disciplines that might not be of interest.
This means our entering students are
focused and involved in coursework
that is relevant to their interests
and plans. Third and fourth year courses
continue professional preparation
but integrate a coordinated liberal
arts core. Throughout the curriculum
there is an emphasis on technology.

Champlain is located
in the historic and beautiful Hill
Section of Burlington, Vermont --
one of the safest cities in one of
the safest states in the country.
Burlington is a vibrant small city
and offers a wide range of community
activities, restaurants, cultural
events, music venues, shops and coffee
houses. The proximity to rural Vermont,
and the Green Mountains, Adirondack
Mountains and Lake Champlain, allows
for almost any outdoor activity one
could imagine. The combination of
Burlington and Vermont makes this
one of the most sought after college
destinations in the country. Uniformed
security personnel patrol the campus
24 hours a day. Though virtually crime-free,
Champlain College goes the extra mile
with special safety workshops, safety
lighting, locked dorms and dorm rooms,
emergency call boxes, watchful adult
Head Residents, and electronic fire
alarm systems.
