Spinner Place

Apartment-Style Housing for Sophomores, Juniors, & Seniors

Spinner Place combines the independence of an apartment with the services, amenities, and programming of a Champlain College residence hall. Located in Winooski, Vermont, the "Brooklyn of Burlington," Spinner Place is home to almost 300 Champlain College residents on four floors of suite-style apartments.

Shuttle Transportation Information

Students living at Spinner Place do not have to worry about transportation to campus. There is a regular shuttle that runs between the campus and Spinner Place, every twenty minutes from early in the morning to late in the evening. This shuttle is free to all Champlain College students, so your classmates can utilize it to visit too. Maintenance/Service Requests

You should send maintenance requests to service@spinnerplace.com. Internet-related requests should be sent to the Champlain College Helpdesk at helpdesk@champlain.edu or 802.860.2710.

Room Assignments

Residents must move into the specific room (A, B, C, D, etc.) to which they are assigned. Questions about room changes should be directed to Claire Giroux-Williams, Assistant Director for Housing Operations, at 802.865.5487.

Mail & Packages

All residential students, including Spinner Place residents, have a private campus mailbox in the mailroom located in Cushing Hall. All mail from Champlain College will be sent to this campus mailbox. You may also have packages sent to this mailroom. Additionally, each apartment has access to a mailbox in the lobby of Spinner Place. You may elect to have your personal mail and packages sent to Spinner Place, however all Champlain College mail will still be sent to your private mailbox in Cushing Hall. Each mailbox at Spinner Place is accessible by all residents of the apartment.

Meal Plans

Spinner Place residents are not required to purchase a college meal plan, but may elect to do so by contacting Elaine Strunk at 802.860.2704. Students living at Spinner Place may purchase either a full meal plan, or the smaller commuter meal plan.

What Furniture/Appliances are Included in my Apartment?

Each bedroom is furnished with a single bed, desk, desk chair, and dresser. Beds can be lofted using a lofting kit provided by Spinner Place at no additional cost. The living room includes a couch, coffee table, sofa chair, television table, dining room table, and two dining chairs. Each apartment has a stove, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and garbage disposal. Laundry facilities are on the 4th and 6th floors.

Where Should I Park?

Spinner Place wraps around a 900-space municipal garage. Parking permits are available to Spinner Place residents for an additional fee through Hallkeen Management, Inc. All Champlain residents may park their vehicles at the Gilbane Lot off of Pine Street in Burlington for free. Most Spinner residents find it easiest to purchase a parking permit for the Spinner Place garage and take the shuttle to and from campus for class, as they will not be able to park on campus during business hours with a Spinner Place permit. Permits are $306.00 for the fall semester and $312.00 for the spring semester. Parking permits may be purchased from the property management group in the Spinner Place office between 12PM and 5PM on weekdays. What Amenities are Included?

  • Many delicious and inexpensive local restaurants including Sneakers, Papa Frank's Italian Kitchen, Cupps Bakery, and the Asian Bistro.
  • Winooski Falls Market & Deli and a credit union are located on the first floor.

  • Local cultural events, such as the Winooski Farmer's Market every Thursday through September.

What Do the RAs Do?

The resident assistants for Spinner Place have strong leadership qualities and a ton of enthusiasm for creating a positive experience for all residents. The RAs' primary responsibility is to create a safe, fun, and inclusive environment through programs, events, and community building. The RAs live at Spinner Place and are actively on-duty each night conducting rounds and serving as a resource for Spinner Place residents.

The RAs live in units 406, 413, 506, 513, 606, 613, 706, and 713. An on-call resident assistant can also be reached each night by calling the duty phone at 802.324.6258 from 9PM-7:00AM daily.
