The Center Staff

Kyle Dodson

Kyle Dodson, Director
Kyle believes that being an "engaged citizen" is our highest calling and he loves that he gets to spend his days thinking about, and helping to inspire and develop engaged citizens. Kyle was formerly a public elementary school Principal in Dorchester, MA. He is incredibly passionate about urban public Pre-K-12 education and issues concerning equity and access for all students, regardless of race or socio-economic status.

Maggie Melvin

Maggie Melvin, Assistant Director
Maggie's passions for both service and photography helped fuel her studies in Anthropology at Saint Michael's College in Colchester, VT. She uses her unique way of understanding, documenting and engaging with the world around her as she supports students at Champlain in their own pursuits of being engaged citizens. Another of Maggie's passions is traveling and she has loved the opportunity to lead students on service trips to Virginia, Tanzania and Uganda. She is excited to reach out to new students and help connect them with their local and global communities.

Ale PictureAle Rodriguez, AmeriCorps *VISTA

Will's interest in service stems from his background in higher education and working with low-income, first generation college students. Before joining the CSCE team, he served for two summers in academic support as a TRiO Upward Bound staff, then on Residence Life at New England Culinary Institute in Montpelier, VT. He believes partnerships between Champlain and the Burlington community are the keys to creating an engaged student body, and that service and career exist in conjunction, not in isolation.

Student Staff

In the 2013-2014 academic year, the Center for Service & Civic Engagement was able to bring on five student staff workers: Hannah Andersen, Nina Knorr, Steven Chandler, Colleen Rooney and Stephanie Goodwin.
