Ronald McDonald House
Ronald McDonald House is the "home away from home" for families with seriously ill children seeking treatment. This nation-wide non-profit organization began in Philadelphia in 1974. They aim to be a refuge for families experiencing the stress and anguish of their loved one's illness. A decade later, the Ronald McDonald House in Burlington opened on February 14, 1984. The Burlington branch focuses on children at Vermont Children's Hospital at Fletcher Allen Health Care.
The Ronald McDonald house is always looking for volunteers, and through Champlain CSCE students have been able to go for a number of years. We send 3-5 students to prepare a meal for the residents to enjoy at their own convenience. We meet at the center for service at 4:00 pm, dinner is served at 5:30 and we return at 5:45.
