Word Play's goal is to create an atmosphere for mentoring relationships to emerge while engaging EMS students in literacy based skill building that prepares them for their own college path and success.
In the Spring of 2013, Word Play was founded as a partnership between Champlain College and Edmunds Middle School as a means to promote language and literacy through various activities facilitated by Champlain mentors. This Spring, Word Play matched 8 Champlain College mentors with 12 Edmunds students and engaged in various activities that sparked intellectual curiosity in a fun and exciting way!
