Our work study positions are an opportunity for students interested and passionate in sustainability issues to further the culture of sustainability within the Champlain College community. Students in these positions help raise awareness and encourage environmentally responsible behavior of campus residents, including waste reduction and energy conservation. Rebecca Carlson

Rebecca Carlson '14
Outreach Liaison

From New Jersey, Rebecca is majoring in Environmental Policy with a minor in Business Administration. Her main areas of focus for Sustain Champlain are within our food sector and the fair trade campus designation.

Fun facts:
* I've been scuba diving on the two largest barrier reefs on Earth.
* I've been stung by the most painful insect sting known to man (a bullet ant).
* I am arguably the best waffle cone maker in the world.


Mariana Franzetti '16
Graphic Design Specialist

From New Jersey, Mariana is studying Management of Creative Media with a specialization in Game Production. Her main focus for Sustain Champlain is doing graphic design and social media outreach.

Fun fact: I love cocker spaniels.

Mae Sullivan

Mae Sullivan '17
Waste Reduction Coordinator

From Connecticut,  Mae is majoring in Broadcast and Streaming Media at Champlain College. Mae is Waste Reduction Coordinator, running the Green Teams for  Open Houses and other campus events.

Fun Fact: I was born in California and lived in Colorado before coming to Connecticut.

Alyssa Church-Smith, University of Vermont '14

Originally from Massachusetts, Alyssa is studying Environmental Studies at the University of Vermont. For Sustain Champlain Alyssa is helping to coordinate our Eco-Reps Program.

Fun Fact: My favorite candy is AirHeads Extreme Sour Belts!


Ryan Skinner, University of Vermont '14

Originally from Massachusetts, Ryan is majoring in Environmental Studies at UVM with a concentration in Sustainability Studies. He is focusing on transportation and biking issues for Sustain Champlain.

Fun fact: I love doing anything outdoors and going to concerts.


Megan Kennedy, Antioch University New England G'14

Originally from Ohio, Megan is working on her Masters  in Sustainable Development and Climate Change from Antioch University New England. Her main area of focus is sustainability outreach, food co-operatives, and local community development.

Fun Fact: I recently went to Cuba for a course on sustainable food systems and permaculture.
