CHAMP

CHAMP is a student-run organization that creates and plans a number of different events on campus each semester.  Anyone is free to join and participate in activity planning. Take a look at what you can get involved in with CHAMP.

Spirit Week

Every year CHAMP also plans a Spirit Week to celebRock Climbing Wallrate Champlain pride. Fall of 2008 kicked off Champlain's first annual Spirit Week and it has been growing and becoming more popular every year. Members of CHAMP run booths and activities throughout the duration of the week to increase campus spirit! Events include stoop decorating contests, costume competitions, movie marathons, daily themes, tons of prizes, and much more! The week ends with a carnival full of games, music, food, and free t-shirt for everyone attending.  Every year, CHAMP comes up with exciting ways to help students show their Champlain pride and Spirit Week is a great way for the entire community to get involved and show their spirit!

Spring Meltdown

One of the most highly-anticipated events is Spring Meltdown, a big carnival at the end of each school year.  On the last day of classes each spring semester CHAMP Students on Scooterstransforms the courtyard into a carnival ground. Themes in recent years have been Vegas, Champlain Before Time, Beaver's in Space, and REWIND - back to the 90's. No matter what the theme, there is sure to be lots of entertainment, free t-shirts, great prizes, food, fun and plenty of ways to unwind at the end of the year!

Entertainment:

Throughout the year, CHAMP puts on various game shows and other entertainment. Some shows we have put on in the past include The Price is Right, Battle of the Sexes, The Perfect Pair, Champlain FUED, and many more. CHAMP always puts its own unique twist on these games to make them a little bit more interesting. Each group or individual competes in these game shows for prizes which could include gift cards, iPods, gaming systems, or a cash prize.

2007 marked CHAMP's first annual Mr. Champlain pageant, where some of our most eclectic male students showed talent, humor, and some very interesting beachwear. The winner receives a prize, crown, and bragging rights for the year. Each Mr. Champlain pageant proves to be extremely interesting and entertaining. CHAMP also frequently invites professional entertainers to perform on our campus. We have had mind readers, hypnotists, and comedians that never fail to entertain the crowd!

Dances:

Each year CHAMP puts on several different dances which each have a variety of themes. Our students kick up their heals at our traditional Halloween dance and the Snowball. The Snowball is our semi formal dance which takes place in the ballroom of a local hotel. Here students enjoy an evening of great music with their friends Masquerade Dance Photo with people dancingover delicious hors d'oeuvres and stylish attire. The Snowball is our most popular dance and typically has over 400 students in attendance.

All dances are free to Champlain College students with the exception of the Snowball, which requires a ticket and for admission and costs $5 in advance or $10 at the door. Advanced tickets can be purchased at the Hub in the IDX Student Life Center. Bring your Champlain ID because you won't want to miss any of the fun!
