Equipment Rental Reservations:
Click here to go to the WebCheckout patron initiated reservation ("P.I.R.") tool to make an online reservation for video and audio production equipment. Patrons are responsible for picking up and transporting these items from the Media Services rental house (Rowell Annex). Use this tool if you are interested in signing out a camera, audio recorder, or other related equipment to complete course work.
Log in using your Champlain College username and password, type in your reservation start (a.k.a. pickup) and end (a.k.a. return) dates and times, find and add the resources you'd like to rent to your reservation, and confirm your reservation. Please review the policies (posted below) for guidelines and restrictions on reservations (i.e approved pickup and return times, restrictions on placing reservations in advance, allowed rental durations, etc.). For a complete guide/walkthrough to using PIR click here.
Failing to follow these guidelines will result in error messages in P.I.R. and/or adjustments to your reservation(s) by Media Services staff.
Please note a reservation is required in order to pickup any equipment. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance of the pickup time.
Event Support & Videography Service Requests:
Click here to go to the EMS system where you can request audio/video services for your class or campus event (microphones & PA systems, LCD projectors with laptops and screens, videography services, etc.). This equipment is typically delivered and set up by a Media Services technician.
Log in using your Champlain College username and password, create or open your room/event booking, and add the resource(s)/services you require via the green "+" icon next to your booking. If you are not the original scheduler for the reservation (i.e. you did not personally use the Virtual EMS tool to book the event) than you can contact the Event Center or your division's Operations Manager for assistance. If you require additioanl assistance and/or guidance with booking your A/V resources contact the Media Desk Supervisor: Lyle King - (802) 865-6462 or lyle@champlain.edu.
Please note that at least three days' advance notice is required for Media Services event support requests and advance notice of at least one business week is required for videography requests. Videography requests also require the customer to have the necessary appearance release form completed by any non-Champlain students/faculty/staff being featured (submit to Lyle King via campus mail). You may contact the event center (802-651-5957) with any questions related to the use of the EMS system.
Media Services maintains a pool of equipment that current students can rent free of charge for coursework. Some of our more advanced equipment is only available through your instructor.
Here are some highlights of our rental policies:
-
Rentals are available free of charge to current Champlain College students, faculty and staff. All rentals require a reservation which can be made via the online reservation form linked above. Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance of desired pickup time.
-
The rental equipment pool is organized via a tiered system. Access to more advanced/specialized equipment is dependent on course enrollment and instructor approval.
-
A Champlain College ID is required each time you pick up equipment.
-
Late equipment returns result in a financial fine and repeat offenses may lead to a suspension of borrowing privileges. You will be billed for unreturned or damaged equipment. Please do not use equipment for personal or commercial use.
-
Patrons will be required to sign a receipt for each rental confirming that the items received are in good working order and that they accept responsibility for returning them the same way.
-
Although every effort will be made to ensure you receive a fully charged battery with your camera equipment Media Services cannot guarantee the battery will be ready for field use upon pickup. We recommend you schedule your rental times accordingly to provide extra setup and charging time before your shoot should it be necessary.
