Accepted Students
Congratulations and Welcome to the Entering Class of Fall 2012
This year we have had a record-breaking number of applicants for admission to the Class of 2016. As an accepted student to Champlain's entering class of Fall 2012, you are in outstanding company! The application pool reflects a diverse group of students with a wide variety of academic, professional, personal and social interests. Without doubt, it's going to be a great class filled with truly gifted and dynamic students from across the country.
Below, you'll find important information on how to enroll, select housing and find the answers to any questions you may have; in between the questions, you'll find quotes and advice from students who were in your shoes this time last year-members of the Champlain Class of 2015. Also, along the right side of this page, you'll find links to other pages that might interest you.
Again, on behalf of the entire Champlain College community, congratulations!
I'M IN! HOW DO I SECURE MY SPOT AT CHAMPLAIN?
This is the easy part. If you've decided that Champlain is your first choice, simply send in your tuition and housing deposit and you are officially a Champlain College student! In your acceptance packet, you received the Deposit form, which you can fill out and return for both the Tuition and Housing deposit. Alternatively, you can fill it out and submit a secure online payment on line at: https://secure.champlain.edu/deposit/
Deadlines count; housing decisions are based on a first-come first serve basis, so the sooner you submit your tuition and housing deposit, the sooner we can assign your housing. Please make sure you get your payment in by the deadlines below:
- Early Decision I: JANUARY 15, 2012
- Early Decision II: MARCH 15, 2012
- Regular Decision: MAY 1, 2012
- Transfer: For Fall term 2012, deposits are due May 1, or two weeks following acceptance, which ever is later. For Spring 2013 deposits are due Nov. 30 or two weeks following acceptance, which ever is later.
After you have submitted your deposit, you will officially be a member of the Class of 2016! Once again, congratulations! We are looking forward to having you as part of our close-knit community. Please keep reading this page for additional information and tasks, and keep an eye on your email and regular mailbox for updates and further instruction.
“At Champlain, you really do get to jump right into what you want to study from the beginning. I was declared right from the beginning, and so I started my major specific classes from the first semester—they are fun and have made me realize that I'm definitely in the right major. I love that as an education major, I've already had experiences with children in a classroom setting.”
HOW CAN I CONNECT WITH FELLOW ACCEPTED STUDENTS?
To begin meeting your fellow accepted students, we highly encourage you to visit our Facebook site for accepted students. Be sure to check off that you are accepted—our administrator will make sure you get access to our page specifically created just for our accepted students! Our application will keep your profile private, giving you the chance to chat with others and learn about your shared interests without the need to add someone as a friend.
“Champlain has an amazing social networking source that all of the incoming students of the class of 2015 we used to get to know each other before we even met and long before school even started.”
HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE ACCEPTED STUDENT DAY EVENT?
Another great opportunity to meet other accepted students (as well as faculty, staff, current students and alumni), is our Accepted Student Day event. This year’s dates are March 31st & April 14th. Come! You might meet your new best friend or a possible roommate candidate—and you'll definately be able to pick up your first Champlain sweatshirt in the bookstore, and get your picture taken with our mascot Chauncey T. Beaver. While you are here, you can enjoy Burlington, or even hit the slopes for some sunny spring skiing/riding. To register, visit www.champlain.edu/welcome2016.
“I think every student who has been accepted to Champlain should try to come to an Accepted Student Day event because you get a sense of how the school suits you. You get the opportunity to meet and mingle with staff and faculty from your Division, meet classmates, get a tour, and finalize all the pesky details.”

“Champlain has something for everyone. I knew I would have tons of outdoor activities to participate in, but I didn't know I'd have the chance to go on a rafting trip, join a rock climbing club, sign up for group hikes, etc. If you love a tightly-knit environment, discussion over lecture and community/eco awareness, you are probably going to love Champlain.”
WHAT ARE THE RESIDENCE HALLS LIKE, AND HOW DO I CHOOSE ONE?
All first year students are housed in one of the stunning, completely restored Victorian-era mansion residence halls that ring the central campus. Everywhere you want to be is close at hand (including beautiful downtown Burlington!), and each is fully loaded with all the amenities, including wireless internet access and laundry facilities.
- FIND OUT MORE ABOUT EACH RESIDENCE HALL (so you can pick your top three to submit on the Housing Request Form/Housing Agreement ). Details on our Residence Hall page.
- FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE. The faster you submit your Housing form, the more likely you are to be placed in one of your top choice Residence Halls (this assumes Tuition & Housing deposits have been made). Complete the Housing Request Form you received in your Accepted Student packet and mail it to Champlain College Residential Life #8, P.O. Box 670, Burlington, VT 05402
- SEE WHICH RESIDENCE HALLS OTHER ACCEPTED STUDENTS ARE CHOOSING. Go to apps.facebook.com/champlain/admitted/ and click on the “Admitted Yearbook” and then “Residence Hall” tab (once you are on the Wall, feel free to “Start a New Topic” and ask any questions you have); you might want to check back frequently.
- FINDING OUT ABOUT HOUSING ASSIGNMENTS. You will be able to view your housing and roommate(s) assignment beginning on August 11, 2012 on your WebAdvisor account (one of the areas you will gain access to after you've activated your Champlain Online Acount).
“Living in Victorian Mansions is pretty awesome. I've been to other schools, and I would not be able to live in those cramped rooms. We all know each other in the dorm and have personal relationships with our RAs whereas you don't get that in a bigger school.”
WILL I LIKE THE FOOD? HOW DOES THE WHOLE FOOD THING WORK?
Our Dining Hall has it all—amazing views of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountain range, seven food stations every day, meals cooked to order, and much more. For information about Dining Hall hours, meal plan pricing and menus, go to www.champlain.edu/dining-services. All first year residential students have a meal plan. The best way to see all the good stuff is on the Champlain College Dining Services Facebook. Visit Facebook.com/ChamplainDining.
“I love Champlain because the school is big enough that there are so many people you don't actually know, but it's small enough that you don't have large classes and you know the people you're around in your dorm and in classes. I know Champlain is the right school for me because I feel like this is the place where I can get the right education that will help me be successful in the future.”
HOW CAN I GET HELP UNDERSTANDING MY FINANCIAL AID AWARD LETTER?
You’ll find many answers to your financial questions regarding Tuition & Fees, Deposits, Payment plans and financial aid at www.champlain.edu/student-accounts. On the lower left hand side of the Students Account page, you will find a list of Frequently Asked Questions regarding billing that you might find very helpful.
The Office of Financial Aid staff will be happy to assist you in the financial-aid process and answer any questions you may have. Contact the Office of Financial aid at 802-860-2730 or email finaid@champlain.edu.
“I think the fact that the teachers all have experience in their fields and the hands-on activities in every class makes learning a lot easier-and also the Upside-Down Curriculum. Take advantage! “I didn’t even know that 'Game Programming' was a credible diploma, but Champlain opened my eyes to that. The very first day in my 'Intro to C++' class, we started basic programming. I really like all of my classes. I love the hands-on approach that you get from the classes. The first day, you start doing work related to your major. It was amazing.”

“I see in Champlain professors a unique, different and interesting learning experience that won't bore me to tears, but makes me want to learn more. I love all my professors. Their passion shows and I believe that is quite admirable. I knew that Champlain was a friendly and comfortable environment, but I didn't really understand until I was actually part of the community—I didn't expect to find my pool of friends so easily, and I didn't expect the teachers to be so welcoming and understanding.”

“Burlington is a small city, but there's ALWAYS something to do. It's hard to explain, but there's never a dull moment at this school, and the whole social spectrum covers an extremely large range so no one ever gets left out of the loop. Also, the Core curriculum professors literally blow my mind in every class. A lot of the professors hold demonstrations and give impromptu lectures in different areas around campus too, so there's also plenty to learn, absorb and incorporate into your life even outside the classroom.”
