Early Decision Program

If Champlain is clearly your first choice, our Early Decision program is an option you might want to consider. Admission under Early Decision allows a student to enjoy the advantage of resolving college plans before spring of their senior year. Each year approximately 30% of our class enters through Early Decision.

Students applying to Champlain through the Early Decision program may not submit any other Early Decision applications. However, students may apply to other colleges for regular admission with the understanding that if admitted early, and their financial aid package meets their financial situation, they are obligated to withdraw all applications to other colleges and to enroll at Champlain College.

Early Decision is not for everyone and so we encourage you to talk to a Champlain Admission Counselor before making the commitment. If you know without a doubt that Champlain is the place for you, please download and print the Early Decision agreement form, have it signed by your Guidance Counselor and then submit by mail to Champlain College. The Early Decision Agreement can also be submitted electronically via the Common Application to avoid submitting by mail.

For those students who apply but who are not admitted under the Early Decision program, the Admission Committee may want further information and/or grades, in which case applications may be deferred to our Regular Decision pool.

English, Mathematics and Foreign Language Placement

Incoming students will be assigned to the appropriate math courses based on their program requirements and high school math achievement.   Students who score a 4 or 5 on the AP Calculus Exam will get 3 credits worth of College Calculus credit.  These students will be waived from MTH 115, 120, 125, and 230 requirements.   Students may register to take one of two optional Challenge Exams administered during orientation.  Students who register for and pass the Algebra Challenge Exam will be waived from MTH 115 and 120 requirements.  Students who register for and pass the Algebra and Trigonometry Challenge Exam will be waived from MTH 115, 120, and 125 requirements.

Okay, so you've applied... now what?

Interview with your Admission Counselor

One of the most important parts of the admission process is getting to know the counselor that will be reading your application.  Our counselors are offering personal interviews with students whose application is complete. This opportunity will allow you to ask any questions you might have about the Champlain experience, admission and financial aid process, and give us the opportunity to get to get to know you!

PLEASE NOTE: Interviews are not required for admission. Interviews can be in person, on the phone, and more. To schedule an interview, please contact your personal Admission Counselor.
