Let’s Get Started!

To help with the academic transition, and to help you move ahead in your curriculum, all transfer students with more than 12 credits (who enter in the fall or spring semesters) must attend the transfer Summer Bridge Program. The benefits of this opportunity are abundant: you will earn six credits towards your Core requirement, have an opportunity to establish early relationships with faculty, staff and fellow students, and in general, have an enjoyable and educational experience that will give you momentum going into the Fall term.

Summer Bridge Orientation

It's hard to believe that soon you will begin life as a student at Champlain College by participating in the Summer Bridge Program! By now we're sure you are as excited as we are about your arrival on campus for the Summer Bridge Orientation and the beginning of your summer CORE classes. Whether you will be living in a College residence hall or commuting, the information during the Summer Bridge Orientation should help answer any lingering questions and prepare you for your summer in Burlington. Orientation is July 1, 2012.

Summer Housing & Storage

Should you elect to live on campus during the Summer Bridge Program, you will have even more opportunities to build lasting relationships in a fun and comfortable setting. Resident Assistants have planned a variety of social events, including outdoor trips to Vermont's mountains and lakes, excursions in and around Burlington, game nights, movie nights, discussions and more. Summer housing is available for the Bridge Program from July 1 through August 10.

If you are staying on campus for the Summer Bridge Program and you are a fall residential student, note that there are two weeks between when the bridge program ends (August 10) and the start of the fall semester (August 27). During this time, you must leave your summer housing and find alternate accommodations so that the physical plant and janitorial staff have time to clean and ready the halls for the fall semester. You must also bring your belongings with you, as on-campus storage is not available during these two weeks. You will not be housed in the same hall for both the summer and fall.

We recommend Kilburn and Gates for off-campus storage, as they have a pickup and delivery option. You can reach Daniel McFadden there at (802) 862-4100 or kilburnandgatesstroage@myfairpoint.net.

Testimonials

"The Summer Bridge program is a wonderful experience for any transferring student. I got a really amazing look at what the CORE is all about before I came in the fall. It absolutely smoothed my transition into Champlain College. Living on campus for 3 weeks of my summer allowed me to get familiar with the area and the campus before the rush of people in the fall. I got to experience what the core classes were all about and met a lot of really amazing people. Even though I had to go to class it was still like a vacation. I got to live on my own in an amazing residential hall, live in one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, and after class was over I went to the beach."
