Members of our faculty are not only passionate about teaching, they are also passionate about practicing what they teach through ongoing initiatives to create, communicate, learn and be continually contributing to the professional backgrounds from which they come.

Tim Brookes, a beloved writing teacher, recently co-founded Writers Without Borders, an initiative designed to teach writing skills to educators who are addressing public health challenges in developing countries. He also started the Champlain College Publishing Initiative. Nancy Kerr, Director of our Media Communications programs, recently received her Accreditation in Public Relations from the University Accreditation of Board.

Hollywood director Rob (Schmidt) Barracano (director of Wrong Turn and The Alphabet Killer) continues to develop scripts for upcoming films. Video game industry veteran Amanda Crispel has worked on development teams at Mattel, Lego, and Digital Chocolate and other industry leaders; now she is expanding her expertise in games for education and training and has founded a local independent game studio called Hoozinga.

Josh Buck, an award-winning animator and game strategist, is pushing the artistic and technological envelope as he develops leading-edge in-game art and animation. Toni-Lee Sangastiano continues to exhibit her artwork at prestigious venues and her recently commissioned work on circus banners is being featured at the Shelburne Museum.
