Learn how to craft a story, develop a script, produce digital media, record audio and design soundscapes. Your education will be guided by a field-tested faculty with significant industry experience, who will teach you how to express yourself creatively as you work on client projects in the College’s professionally equipped broadcast media suites: shoot with state-of-the-art HD cameras, record in professionally equipped studios, and bring it all together in production labs featuring nonlinear video editing suites for advanced production.
You’ll work closely with your peers and faculty in this highly collaborative and deadline-driven field. You’ll also discover the ins and outs of the business, from digital rights management to online marketing. Step back and learn the foundations of traditional broadcasting, too, so that you can work in radio or television broadcast programming as they fully transition to the digital age. Our students have interned at local media outlets such as WCAX-TV, regional educational television, Hen House Media, Shadow Productions, Country Music Television and MSNBC.
- Prepare for the convergence of traditional and digital media and the demand it will create by building Web sites, producing digital content, and creating, organizing and communicating information on multiple platforms.
- Acquire the tactical skills you'll need to be adaptable and successful in a wide variety of industries encompassing numerous arenas from corporate communications to nonprofit organizations.
- Explore scripting, directing, shooting and editing via a mix of classroom theory and production experience. Study broadcast management and programming for radio and television broadcast news.
- Specialize in Sonic Arts. Tailor your degree with a specialization in Sonic Arts that will allow you to integrate music, audio production and sound design into your program. Courses include Synthesis & Sound Design and Advanced Projects in Sonic Arts.
- Learn by doing in our digital editing suites, video and computer labs and audio studios, as well as on location. You’ll produce videos and audio materials for business applications, such as training videos, product information spots, corporate presentations, online advertising campaigns and video press releases. You’ll film and produce educational materials that teach a process, increase awareness or provide a valuable community service message. And you’ll learn the newest marketing techniques for direct-to-consumer media presentations.
