Web Application Development Specialization

Focused area of study for Computer Information Technology Majors

Why Choose to specialize in Web Application Development?

A large part of everyday interaction with computers is accessing information, entering transactions and communication. As Internet usage evolves, these functions are being performed increasingly by web-based applications, rather than applications installed on the computer. Web applications have become increasingly complex software products, involving multiple servers, operating systems and databases that might be housed in various locations.

The Computer Information Technology major provides a foundation for understanding how today’s complex technical systems allow users to create, access, transmit and manipulate data. The Web Application Development specialization builds on top of that with courses designed to teach how to create web-based environments involving the various components that are interactive, functional and safe. Students will learn to use programming languages and services on client machines, web servers and database servers as well as understand the communication between these servers.
