Game Media Specialization

Focused area of study for Creative Media majors

Why Choose a Specialization in Game Media?

This specialization appeals to a range of interests within visual arts. The courses help students develop skills by combining aesthetics and technology. You'll explore the process of creating visual elements and assets for game media, including concept art, two-dimensional images, three-dimensional models and textures, digital sculpture, and user interface design. Though most work you'll produce will be presented in a game engine or as part of a game production pipeline, you can apply what you learn to other fields: film, drawing, painting, concept art, and video and architectural design and visualization.

You may specialize within the focus area by concentrating on 2-D or 3-D courses. This provides the opportunity to develop skills in targeted areas. The two areas have some courses in common.

Students who pursue 2-D game art are talented at drawing, perspective, anatomy, design, color, painting and composition. If you're drawn to 3-D game art, you love visual aesthetics and are comfortable using complex 3-D software to "build" your works.
