After just one semester at Champlain, I co-founded a student magazine, for which I was the Art Director over the next year. The summer after my sophomore year, I worked at the Emergent Media Center at Champlain College, helping to create a prototype Virtual Archeology Museum for the State of Vermont, and a video game to end gender violence for the United Nations.  I lived in Montreal for the second half of my junior year, exploring bilingual design at one of Champlain's international campuses. The following summer, I completed an invaluable internship at JDK Design, which offered real-world projects and my first experience working in a design studio. This year, I was elected President of the AIGA Champlain College Student Group, and plan to undertake design projects in the classroom, around Champlain, and on my own while still finding time to participate in the Rock Climbing Club and give tours to prospective students. After I graduate this coming year, I plan to work for a design studio, but have yet to decide where in the world I want to be.

The Vermont Chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design, held a student design challenge in partnership with Champlain College.  Entrants were tasked with envisioning a bike sharing program for the city: planning its structure, designing an identity, and creating a launch campaign. I researched existing programs in other cities, and analyzed Burlington's unique features to develop a viable system. I crafted a logo and visual vocabulary to foster an emotional attachment with the bike-riding experience, and planned advertisements that worked in conjunction with existing forms of transportation. I was among the semi-finalists whose work was part of an exhibition at Jager Di Paola Kemp Design, and juried by local designers. My work was awarded Best in Show, and I was offered an internship at JDK.
