Champlain College encourages all students to apply for financial aid. Applying for aid is the only way to know if you will be eligible for grants, federal work-study, loans, and scholarships, and it will not affect your chances of being admitted to the College.
The financial aid application process is separate from the admissions application. Do not wait for your admissions acceptance before applying for financial aid.
All admitted students who complete the 2024-2025 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be considered for Champlain's need-based awards and merit scholarships. If you are applying for Early Decision, we will email you our Champlain Student Aid Estimator Form to be considered for need-based aid. If you do not receive an email from us, please email us at admissions@champlain.edu and we will send you the link.
***You MUST complete a FAFSA for EVERY YEAR you seek financial aid ***
Students seeking need-based funding from Champlain should submit the FAFSA by the priority filing date found below. Although the FAFSA is accepted throughout the year, our need-based scholarships are awarded first to students who meet the FAFSA priority filing date and then on a rolling basis, if funds are available.
Admissions Program | Form to Fill Out | Priority Filing Dates* |
---|---|---|
Early Decision I | 2024-2025 FAFSA | March 1, 2024* |
Early Decision II | 2024-2025 FAFSA | March 1, 2024* |
Regular Decision | 2024-2025 FAFSA | March 1, 2024* |
Transfer Priority Applicants | 2024-2025 FAFSA | June 1, 2024 |
Spring 2025 Applicants | 2024-2025 FAFSA | Rolling |
*Due to delays in receiving student FAFSA information from the Department of Education, we are extending the 2024-2025 FAFSA deadline to assist families.
How the Financial Aid Process Works
1
Submit your application for admission to Champlain College, but please do NOT wait to get your admission decision to apply for the FAFSA. To apply, to How to Apply.
2
Apply for Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID for yourself and for your parent at https://studentaid.gov/fsa-id/sign-in/landing. The FSA ID will be used to electronically sign the federal financial aid forms.
3
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/
4
Complete any applications required for state grant and/or state scholarship programs.
5
Apply for outside scholarships through your high school and local civic, professional, religious, and other community organizations.
6
A financial aid award offer will be sent to applicants who are accepted for admission.
The Federal government is currently revising how it is doing the FAFSA. As a result, the new form will be available in December 2023, not October as in previous years.
