Third Annual Sarah Ramsey Strong 5K Race to Celebrate Champlain's ‘iLab' Grand Opening

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- The third annual Sarah Ramsey Strong 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, Oct. 1, to benefit the Sarah Ramsey ‘12 Strong Fund scholarship at Champlain College.

Registration starts at 3 p.m. and the race begins at 4 from Champlain College's Lakeside Miller Center at 175 Lakeside Ave. The route along the Burlington Bike Path takes participants to the Burlington Waterfront, and then back to Lakeside. Pre-register for the race online at or at the door on the day of the event. All fitness levels and ages are welcome to participate.

Following the race, there will be an after party to celebrate the grand opening of Champlain College's new Sarah Ramsey '12 Innovation Lab, located in Champlain's Ireland building at 391 Maple St. There will be free shuttles from the Miller Center to main campus.

The annual Sarah Ramsey Strong 5K is held in memory of alumna Sarah Elizabeth Ramsey '12. Proceeds from the race benefit the Sarah Ramsey Strong Scholarship Fund and the new Innovation Lab (or iLab) at Champlain College at Stiller School of Business. Named in Sarah's honor, the iLab was announced at last year's 5K, and is intended to evoke her creativity and passion for innovation, which blossomed during her time at Champlain.

By integrating cutting-edge technology with a physical space that fosters teamwork and collaboration, organizers said, the iLab inspires innovation, encourages flexibility and experimentation, and allows Champlain students and faculty to dream big. Designed with live client work, rapid prototyping, product design and collaboration in mind, the Sarah Ramsey iLab embodies Champlain's commitment to innovation, both as an academic pursuit and as an institutional value.

The Sarah Ramsey Strong permanent fund was established in 2013 in memory of Sarah Elizabeth Ramsey by her family and friends. The fund celebrates Sarah's inspiring creativity, zest for life, and her love for traveling abroad by supporting Champlain students who exemplify Sarah's passion for advertising, and are pursuing a transformative internship or study abroad experience.
