Champlain College will mark the official opening of its new Women's and Gender Center on Nov. 2 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Skiff Hall's parking lot, just outside the new center. . This is a momentous occasion and we invite you (and your students!) to help us celebrate!
The Women's and Gender Center focuses on education and support around three major areas: Empowerment & Leadership Development, Gender Identity & Sexual Orientation, and Sexual Violence Prevention and Support. "We encourage you to get involved," Said director Maggie Melvin.
WHAT: The Women's and Gender Center Grand Opening! Food, music, networking, free t-shirts, logo reveal, drop-in activities, remarks by President Donald Laackman and other student and community leaders, official ribbon cutting, and more.
WHEN: Wednesday, Nov. 2 from 4-6 p.m. Official remarks will begin at 5 p.m.
WHERE: The Women's and Gender Center (Skiff Annex room 102) and the Skiff Parking Lot.
WHY: To celebrate the dedication of countless students, staff and faculty who have worked over the years to make this center a reality; to learn about the Women's and Gender Center and what it offers on campus; to contribute ideas to our mission statement (in addition to other drop-in activities); and to enjoy a fun party!
WHO: Open to all of the Champlain College community! People of ALL gender identities and sexual orientations are welcomed and encouraged to attend this and all Women's and Gender Center events (unless otherwise specified as an affinity group event for a particular identity group).
