Champlain College Looks to the 'Future of the Creative Industries' on Feb. 25

Thought leaders from the fields of art, music, innovation and business will take up issues affecting creative professionals in a panel discussion titled "Future of the Creative Industries" to be held Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. in Champlain College's Alumni Auditorium at 375 Maple St. Admission is free and open to the public.
Panelists will include Kevin Erickson of Washington, DC-based advocacy group Future of Music Coalition, Anni Mackay, founder and director of BigTown Gallery and BigTown Projects in Rochester, Vt., and Dr. Jennifer Vincent, Associate Professor in Champlain's Stiller School of Business. Lars Hasselblad Torres, executive director of Generator Makerspace will moderate the discussion.
The evening aims for inquiry into the creative industries along several lines, including the forces driving compensation, professional stability, audience-building, innovation and expression; the near-future in terms of business models, infrastructure, policy and best practices; and how creative workers can advocate for a vibrant creative economy in Vermont.
The event is sponsored by Champlain College, Division of Communication and Creative Media and the Creative Media BFA program.
