Division of Communication and Creative Media Scholarships & Honors

The Division of Communication & Creative Media (CCM) values and rewards the academic and creative talents of students in our major programs through a variety of college and industry-sponsored scholarships and fellowships.  We encourage eligible students to take advantage of these opportunities to support tuition and other educational expenses.

CCM Dean's Scholarship

The CCM Dean's Scholarship is a competitive award given to outstanding full-time students in the Division of Communication & Creative Media. Students are invited to apply in the Fall and Spring semesters. Applications are reviewed by a faculty committee and the CCM Dean, and awards are made on the basis of the quality of the application and academic merit. Financial need also may be taken into account.

Students can apply for awards ranging from $100 to up to $500 dollars to support educational expenses such as: tuition, travel to and lodging at professional conferences, festival entry fees and conference registration, professional training, academic projects, and other approved professional and academic related activities.

Game Developers Conference (GDC) Scholarship

The Game Developers Conference Scholarship is awarded to Seniors majoring in one the five programs that comprise Champlain's Game Studio: Game Art, Game Design, Game Production Management, Game Programming, and Game Sound Design. The award of up to $500 supports students' attendance at the Game Developers Conference—the largest game developers conference in North America and a primary destination for networking and recruiting. Students apply for the GDC Scholarship in the Fall semester for travel in the Spring. Students are awarded on the basis of academic merit and financial need.

Stowe Story Lab Fellowship

The Stowe Story Lab Fellowship is awarded yearly to an eligible third-year Filmmaking student at Champlain College whose faculty-endorsed screenplay is selected for inclusion in the Stowe Story Labs' annual fall workshop. The Fellowship covers fees, meals, and lodging at the Fall Labs in Stowe, Vermont. For more information about the Labs and other fellowship opportunities, visit Stowe Story Labs Fellowships.

Vermont Association of Broadcasters Scholarship

The Vermont Association of Broadcasters Scholarship (VAB) is awarded to outstanding full-time students majoring in Broadcast Media Production at Champlain College. Students are chosen by a faculty committee and are awarded based on a minimum grade point average of 3.0, a written response to the application, and the quality of their work. The award is generally applied toward the following year's tuition, but a limited number of awards are available to support students' broadcast-related academic and professional activities in the Fall and Spring semesters.

Vermont College of Fine Arts Scholarship

Students pursuing a BS in Professional Writing who have applied and been accepted to the MFA in Writing & Publishing at the Vermont College of Fine Arts (VCFA) are eligible to receive a scholarship for their first semester at VCFA. Scholarships are awarded by VCFA and range from $1,000-$5,000. VCFA Scholarships may be reviewed for renewal in future semesters. Scholarship amounts will be determined based on a combination of merit and need.

In addition to scholarship and fellowship opportunities, the CCM Division takes pride in recognizing the academic achievements of students who rank at the top of their classes and who make exceptional contributions to their programs, the Division, the College, and their local and global communities.

CCM Excel Award

The CCM Excel Award honors an outstanding undergraduate senior representing each of the CCM majors. Eligible recipients receive a monetary gift and memento. In addition to the cumulative grade point average, awards are based on evidence of exemplary creative/scholarly work related to the major; evidence of exceptional contributions to the CCM Division, program, or college; and evidence of one or more of the following: study abroad, internship, or some other form of engagement with the discipline or community beyond the classroom.

Annual Juried Student Art Show - Dean's Choice Award

Champlain College's annual juried student art show features student artists selected by a jury of faculty, alumni, and industry professionals. The exhibition showcases talent in a variety of mediums including video, audio, 3-D model, sculpture, graphic design, photography, digital & manual painting, drawing, and illustration. The Dean's Choice Award, which comes with a monetary prize, is given by CCM Dean Paula Willoquet-Maricondi based on her favorite piece of art in the show.

The CCM Division is home to several national and international student chapters of industry-related and academic organizations that offer scholarships for its members. We highly encourage students to consider membership in order to take advantage of these and other opportunities to support tuition and other educational expenses.

AIGA Worldstudio scholarships - eligible to members
