The Champlain Library has beautiful architecture and quiet spots to study, but our stunning view from the third floor is one of the best in the city. Whether you're taking in a sunset on our outdoor patio or lounging in the Vista Room, there is no shortage of inspiration and natural beauty surrounding you. Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks make the perfect backdrop for your study session or for just relaxing between classes. Protip: reserve study room 309 for your next group project if you don't mind being a little distracted.
Every year when the weather starts to cool down and the leaves start to change colors, the Champlain College Library hosts its annual Chili Cook-off. Faculty, staff, and students submit crockpots full of delicious and warming chili to compete for Best Vegetarian, People's Choice, and the coveted Top Chili Champion awards. From Thai Chili, to strawberry rhubarb chili, to even yak chili, this contest has no shortage of interesting and mouthwatering entries. But this is a contest in which everyone wins! People across campus mark their calendars to eat free chili and sample the best that their classmates and colleagues have to offer. Join us in the fall for food, fun, and a quick break from studying.
See the world through the eyes of Champlain! From study abroad to family vacations, members of the Champlain College community submit their photos to show off their international travels. Every year, this colorful showcase is a great way to lighten up and take a break during the demanding final weeks of Spring semester. While photos are on display, anyone can stop by the Library to vote for their favorites! Prizes are awarded for artistic and popular entries by a panel of Champlain College judges. At the end of the contest, people gather at the Library for food and fun to celebrate the winners. We hope this event continues to grow year after year!
Preserving the history of Vermont and Champlain College are important to us at Champlain College Library. We have a lot of cool stuff, and we love showing it off! Since the donation of the Llewellyn Collection in 2010, we've organized events to give the Champlain Community and surrounding public in Burlington the opportunity to interact with these historic documents. We have photographs, books, sheet music, and much more on display in the library and at Perry Hall across campus. Get whisked away to another time--see Vermont and Lake Champlain in another era, and be transported by the sounds of age-old popular music. It's like having a time machine right here on campus!
