What We Teach

Champlain's Information Literacy program focuses on how students find, use, and evaluate information. We talk to students about the breadth of the information landscape. As we tell students, "Finding what you need depends on what you need to know." While we advocate for the use of the library, we encourage our students to use other resources, often web-based, that are appropriate to their needs and situation.

We also work with students to develop an approach to the research process that works for them. We work with students to recognize and refine their pre-existing search habits, to reflect on and articulate their information choices, and to create mechanisms for integrating research into their assignments and projects.
