Moving Image (Film & Video) Concentration

The moving image is one of the most common forms of communication today—embedded video is everywhere, and the creative potential to create new forms for the digital age is virtually limitless. In this focus area of the Creative Media major, you will explore the power of the moving image and sound in conjunction with other media as an artistic expression.

  • Try out different film production roles, such as director, cinematographer, sound designer, editor, script writer, and actor.
  • Acquire the technical skills and techniques to become adept at manipulating audio and video, including areas like how different cameras and lenses work, how to set up a shot, how a script is formed, how to light appropriately, how to create special effects, and how to create audio.
  • Manipulate media so you can explore creating art with time-based media. For example, you might create an art installation that incorporates video.
