Build expertise in a field that can take you anywhere.
Start taking Communication courses in your first semester. At Champlain, you'll spend four years gaining hands-on experience tailoring your messages for different audiences while you develop skills in design, technology, public relations, and event management.
In Champlain's Communication major, you'll learn by working on real projects and with local clients. You'll be able to work closely with your Faculty Advisor to customize your courses and internships to suit your interests and professional goals.
In our Upside-Down Curriculum, you'll be taking Communication classes like Public Speaking and Video Storytelling during your first year. You'll soon be exploring new media tools and working with the latest technologies. This early experience is why so many employers seek our Communication majors as interns and employees: you're already prepared to do the work they need.
You'll culminate your academic experience with a Capstone project through a partnership with a local organization. By graduation, you will be a highly skilled, engaged, civic-minded professional with communication expertise that will open doors for you in a wide range of careers and industries.
Put your Communication expertise to work early. You'll have plenty of internship opportunities as an undergraduate Communication student—your Faculty Advisor and Career Coach will help you choose the options that best suit your interests and goals.
Whether through a third-party program (go almost anywhere in the world!) or a Champlain Abroad campus in Dublin or Montreal (your financial aid comes with you!), we encourage students to embark on a semester of global exploration to cultivate cultural fluency and adaptability.
Access opportunities, including conferences, networking, internships, and scholarships by becoming a member of Champlain's chapters of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and Lambda Pi Eta (LPH), the official communication honor society of the National Communication Association.
