Early Childhood/Elementary Teacher Education Curriculum

Our Upside-Down Curriculum allows you to begin taking your Early Childhood/Elementary Teacher Education classes beginning in your first semester. This gives you an exceptional amount of time to gain critical firsthand experience, allowing you to apply your learning on the job and take concepts directly from your Champlain classrooms into your apprenticeship classrooms.

Our program lets you choose from two curriculum options:

  • A dual endorsement in Early Childhood (Pre-K through grade three) and Elementary Education (kindergarten through grade six); or
  • A dual endorsement in Early Childhood (birth through grade three) and Elementary Education (kindergarten through grade six).

Both options prepare you to:

  • Meet the developmental needs of students,
  • Structure the learning environment to achieve age-appropriate learning outcomes,
  • Integrate technology into the classroom, and
  • Graduate eligible for licensure in the state of Vermont, which is acknowledged in most states.

Interested in studying abroad for a semester? Our Early Childhood/Elementary Teacher Education faculty designed the curriculum to encourage a semester studying abroad.
