Champlain's Finance major is recognized as a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) University Affiliated program by the CFA Institute, the national association of investment professionals that sets the industry standards for professional excellence. Often referred to as the "gold standard" for the investment management industry, the CFA designation is the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world.
Champlain College's Finance major is distinguished as the only CFA University Affiliated program in Vermont.
As a CFA Affiliated University, Champlain's Finance program is closely tied to professional practice, providing students with a solid grounding in the CFA Program's Candidate Body of Knowledge and preparing them for the CFA exams that will give them necessary financial credentials and certifications.
This affiliation allows our Finance students to be eligible for CFA scholarships. It also provides access to CFA Institute curriculums, journals, webcasts, and other educational resources.
Champlain College is a regular competitor in the CFA Institute Research Challenge, a global CFA competition for undergraduate students.
The challenge tests and enhances students' skills in equity research and company analysis. Teams of three to five business and finance students are mentored by finance professionals as they work directly with a public company to analyze the company, write an equity report, and present their analysis to a board of financial experts and leaders.
In 2017, the Champlain College Robert P. Stiller School of Business team won the inaugural CFA Institute Research Challenge in Vermont and advanced to compete in the American regional competition in Seattle, Washington.
