Champlain's Law major is professionally driven. Through our Upside-Down Curriculum, Law students are equipped to take on meaningful externships starting after their second year of school. Yes—externships, plural. By taking field-relevant courses earlier, students have more time to take on law-related externships throughout their college studies.
In fact, 100% of the Champlain College Class of 2019 had completed one or more externships or other experiential learning opportunities before graduation, and a third completed four or more.
These externships will make your résumé stand out in a field of applicants. This abundance of practical experience in your field will help you develop the real-world skills you'll need to succeed in your career.

We want you to be well prepared for your first internship, externship, or other fieldwork. After your first year of exploratory practical education, you'll be ready to work with your Career Advisor to take the next step.
Local and national employers turn to Champlain for college interns because they are better prepared to work in professional environments than the majority of their peers from other institutions. Many Champlain graduates receive full- and part-time job offers from the organizations where they first took their internships or externships.
