School of Social Innovation

Help the next generation begin to develop an awareness of the diversity and interconnectedness of society and the world.

The Middle Grades Social Studies concentration provides you with a deep understanding of the topic of social studies in preparation for educating children from grades 6 through 12. You’ll dive into topics like American history and world civilization.

Teaching middle school students is one of the most worthwhile and rewarding challenges you’ll take on. The rapid intellectual and emotional development that happens between ages 10 and 15 makes being an educator of pre-adolescents particularly gratifying-and very often, a ton of fun.

All of our Middle Grades concentrations help you build confidence and create a complete toolkit to become future teachers who can master curriculum design, have a strong baseline in learning theory and adolescent psychology, integrate technology into the classroom, and have licensures and strong professional portfolios.
