At Champlain, it's never been easier to embark on a life-changing semester (or two) in remote corners of the globe. All our majors are designed to accommodate a semester studying in a foreign country, and with Champlain Abroad Dublin, Champlain Abroad Montreal , Exchange Programs, and Third-Party Programs, the possibilities are many for you to explore unique landscapes and exotic cultures.

In addition to taking classes and living in a new place, studying abroad is an opportunity to confront your own assumptions, meet new people, embrace curiosity and gain a richer understanding of the world through truly realizing what it means to see from a global perspective. Our Office of International Education will work with you to ensure all credits transfer and fulfill requirements for your major. Plus, as you can see below, our Champlain Abroad Dublin and Montreal programs allow a seamless transition thanks to built-in curriculums for major-specific classes.

Champlain Abroad Montréal

As a Game Art & Animation major, you have the opportunity to study on our campus in Montréal, Canada, the third-largest game development city in the world. Montréal is home to a number of international game development companies, including Eidos Montréal, Warner Bro, Bioware, EA and Ubisoft Montreal—just 90 miles north of our Burlington, Vermont, campus.

Summer Programs

Study abroad destinations in addition to Montréal for Game Design majors can be found through one of our approved third-party provider summer programs. Game Designers can complete Core 330 requirements over the summer and still stay on track with their program requirements.

Champlain College's Exchange Programs allow Burlington undergraduate students to spend a semester immersed in another culture as they live and study at one of our exchange institutions. This is also an excellent opportunity to diversify our Burlington campus as we welcome students from our exchange partners for a semester or full academic year.

Study-Abroad Partner Schools

Scotland, Abertay University

In​ ​Scotland, Champlain students​ ​can choose to study at Abertay University. Abertay​ is a school of about 4,000 students and is well known throughout Europe for their prominent Computer Games programs.

New Zealand, Auckland University of Technology (AUT)

New Zealand is one of the safest travel destinations in the world, and Auckland is ranked third on Mercer's global 2012 Quality of Life Survey. Auckland University of Technology's course offerings fit across majors with a variety of professional, liberal arts and interdisciplinary options that provide students with an understanding of New Zealand culture as well as develop their global perspective.

France, ESC Rennes School of Business in Rennes

In France, Champlain students study at the ESC Rennes School of Business, a college of approximately 450 students that is located a short 10-minute walk from the center of Rennes. Rennes, the capital of Brittany, is regarded as one of the most appealing places to live in all of France-and that's saying a lot. It's also just two hours from both Paris and London.

Netherlands, HES School of Economics and Business

Honoring a tradition in business studies that goes back to 1867, HES School of Economics and Business is one of the largest single-faculty institutions of professional business education in the Netherlands. It offers a wide range of business-oriented programs preparing students for bachelor's and master's degrees.

Morocco, Al Akhawayn University

Inaugurated in 1995 by the late King Hassan II of Morocco and the late King Fahd of Saudi Arabia, Al Akhawayn University redefines the classic American liberal arts educational experience on an architecturally stunning, modern campus amidst the glory of Morocco's Middle Atlas Mountains. Some of the features of the school include:

Third-Party Providers

Champlain also offers students the option to study abroad through pre-approved third-party providers. Past Champlain students who have found a program that meets both major and program requirements have studied in locations such as France, India, Sweden, Costa Rica and Australia. Tuition

Tuition covers courses, housing, access to and support from faculty and staff onsite, administrative support from Champlain College, subsidized activities and weekend tours.

Financial Aid

Upon acceptance, you may qualify for an adjustment to your financial aid package for your semester abroad costs.

For Montreal and Dublin programs, students receive institutional financial aid. For third-party study-abroad programs, only federal aid is available, and students are required to stay enrolled at Champlain College while studying abroad.
