At our Game Career Exploration Day, you will learn the difference between what it takes to be a game animator versus a game designer or game programmer. You can also discover the various career paths on the business side of the industry, which offer many exciting management positions.

This is your chance to get a look at the various available professional opportunities in the game industry and find out what kind of skills and experience you need to land those jobs when you graduate.

When you come to Game Career Exploration Day, you will be able to

  • connect with the Game Studio faculty for a presentation and discussion on the distinctive nature of our multi-disciplinary, collaborative curriculum;
  • meet faculty from each of the four game degree programs to help you determine what area of game production is best for you and your career in the game industry;
  • find out about our Game Studio model, in which students in our four Game majors work as a team to learn how games are produced in the real world;
  • talk with individual faculty about the game majors that interest you the most. (Our game faculty members are all experts with extensive experience in the game industry.)

Receive expert guidance on your Game Art & Animation or Game Design portfolio.

During the Game Career Exploration Day event, we host special Portfolio Review Sessions for students applying to our Game majors that have a Portfolio Review Requirement (Game Art & Animation and Game Design). These events will give you the opportunity to meet one-on-one with faculty for 20 minutes to receive feedback on your portfolio before you submit it with your Champlain application.

To schedule a Portfolio Review Session during Game Career Exploration Day, be sure to check the box for Portfolio Review under "Additional Visit Activities" when on the Game Career Exploration Day registration form.

Space is limited. Requests will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

Make it a full weekend, with a trip to our Champlain Montreal campus on Sunday (10/15).

Just when you thought it couldn't get any better! We're also holding a casual open house at our Montreal, Canada, campus from 11:00 AM–3:00 PM. Montreal is only an hour and a half drive from Burlington, Vermont.

Our staff and students at Champlain Montreal will meet with you and your guests and provide a personal tour of our campus. During your visit, you can learn firsthand about our academic programs, student life and internship experiences in one of the most cosmopolitan centers in the world for business, arts and culture.

Game majors will be particularly interested in learning about all of the international internships our students have completed in Montreal's booming game industry.

You may come at any point during those hours; simply RSVP (by checking the box for Montreal Campus Visit on your Game Career Exploration Day registration form) and meet us in Montreal. When you let us know you are coming, an Admissions Counselor will contact you with directions.

Why study game fields at Champlain?

Champlain has one of the oldest Game Design degrees in the country. That means we are years ahead of other programs in understanding how to cultivate highly employable game developers who have exactly the right mix of experience and skills game companies seek in employees.

Champlain is the only college in the country that

  • offers FOUR PROGRAMS OF STUDY IN THE GAME INDUSTRY:
    • Game Art & Animation
    • Game Design
    • Game Programming
    • Game Production Management;
  • brings students together to work in the Champlain Game Studio, giving them direct experience in the same TEAM-ORIENTED ENVIRONMENT they will encounter in game industry workplace settings;
  • offers students the opportunity to LEARN AND INTERN AT OUR CAMPUS IN MONTREAL, Canada—the game capital of North America and one of the largest game development centers in the world.

Ready to explore your interest in the game industry?

Good. We're ready to help you.
